This course seeks to improve the level of algebraic sophistication of students by building on concepts introduced in earlier courses. Particular emphasis is placed on the study of functions and their usefulness in modeling data. The TI-83 calculator is used extensively both in learning about properties of functions and in using these functions to model data. In addition to linear and quadratic functions, students explore polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions. Other topics addressed include complex numbers, matrices, conic sections and triangle trigonometry.
