This course is for students from 9th to 12th grades at beginning level with little or no prior knowledge of Chinese. It introduces the rich, colorful and interesting aspects of the Chinese language and culture. Students learn the pronunciation of Mandarin Chinese, daily conversations, basic written character formation, major Chinese festivals and traditions. Students learn the language from  teacher, with audio and visual aids, and through interactions performing various in class tasks and activities. Culture studies are through medias, presentations, projects and field trips.
